PS4 Remote Play officially coming to Mac and
PC

If you've spent any money on a PS Vita in the past few months...I'm so sorry. Sony's Remote Play Service, which allows Playstation 4 users to stream their gameplay to a Vita via a home network will be expanded to PC and Mac. There are no further details on the release frame or how the service will work on PC/Mac but it was definitely confirmed by Sony via a Tweet. Is this Sony's response to Microsoft's Windows 10 Xbox One stream capability?

Hearthstone announces $1 Million Prize for World Championship

Esports is gaining a kind of momentum that I'm sure no one was expecting this past year. With televised events planned for the future and the Electronic Sports League beginning to test players for drugs, Esports players and teams are beginning to become a household name. With a prize pool of $1 million dollars, Hearthstone developers Blizzard announced that 16 players will battle it out for the ever expanding prize pool and the title of World Champion. To put this into perspective, 2014's Hearthstone World Champion had a prize pool of $250,000 to share among the 16 players. This year's World Championship will include three Season Championships and a Last Call invitational in each region where each 1st prize winner will win $100,000, to determine who goes to the Hearthstone World Championship.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 won't ship worldwide due to sexism backlash fears

The publisher Koei Tecmo has decided not to release Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 in the US or Europe due to its concerns over how Western audiences will respond to its depiction of women. The game is currently set to release for PS4 and PS Vita in February 2016 but if you're a fan of this game living here in the US...then there isn't any good news for you because the publisher also announced that there are no plans to bring it to the West AND doesn't have any plan to change it in the future. It is unclear whether any other factors led to the publisher scraping a global release but the game highlights an issue happening in the video game industry with regard to how to treat females in video game industry. Changes in attitudes towards the depiction of women in video games has created a public debate between those who want a more noticeable gender equality and those who deem it unnecessary. What are your thoughts on this?

Instead of just showing support, why not own a financial stake in a game's success? Fig is a crowdfunding platform meant for video games where fans can invest in their favorite projects. Fig also offers traditional Kickstarter style rewards for those who decide they don't want to invest. Fig launched in August and also funded it's first project, "Outer Wilds", fully. Previously, Fig used to only allow accredited investors the opportunity to take part in the game's development and potentially share in the game's success but now unaccredited investors will now be able to participate equally. There are a few speculation on how the new campaign will be run and who can invest but this opens up the opportunity for players to play a much bigger part in the game creation process. There will be more details coming late December so expect that soon.

The first video game crowdfunding network is doing something right

Oh NOW you're sorry?

Overkill, Payday 2's developers, once declared that they would never include microtransactions in their game. Almir Listo, a producer of Payday 2, actually said "we've made it clear that Payday 2 will have no microtransactions whatsoever" and even the lead designer, David Goldfarb, went on to assure players there wouldn't be anything of it's kind found in the game. Cue the Black Market Update. The update introduced "safes" as end of match rewards and could only be opened with "special drills". These special drills cost money ($2.50 to be exact) and once you've used the drill on a safe, the player would acquire a weapon skin. There's a nasty little twist included in this update though...some skins could only be used on weapons that were part of DLC which means you either had to buy the DLC weapon or face the fact that you've wasted your time playing that match for no rewards. Fast forward two months to present time after the update. Almir Listo has finally commented on the fact that they've "screwed up". After an immense amount of backlash from the community, even death threats to the team's moderators, Listo has issued an apology admitting that mistakes were made during this process!

A quick snippet of what Listo had to say.

Although there hasn't been any details about removing the microtransactions, this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Telltale's Game of Thrones will get a season 2!

It's been confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that Telltales will continue Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series with a second season. The game is already being developed but no news has surfaced about a release window. For anyone who finished Season one's finale knows there are so many questino left unanswered. THERE HAD TO BE ANOTHER SEASON!
