TGS 2015 Review - Sony's Conference

The Tokyo Game Show is always an exciting time of the year for me personally, as a fan of Japanese games I get a little preview what could possibly come over to the west. The most exciting thing the last few years has been Sony's press conference. It gives Sony and other publishers the opportunity to announce some exciting news that they've keeping close to there vests for a while. Now I know everything announced at this conference is not coming to North America, it is a Japanese conference so the target demographic for this conference will be the Japanese gamer. I will list everything that get's announced but when I see something that has a chance of coming over here I'll go a little deeper into that announcement.

The conference starts out with a sizzle reel of many games that are already out or is coming to PlayStation platforms; most of them are PS4 games with a couple Vita games featured as well. The head of SCEJA comes out welcoming everyone in attendance as well as everyone watching through the livestream. Three new colour variations of the PS Vita are mentioned and are coming out on September 17th in Japan, if I remember correctly one of those colour variation is coming to GameStop exclusively in November. PS4 is also apparently doing four times better in Japan then it was doing one year ago; no actual reveal of what that number is but one can assume it's doing better numbers.

Everyone's favourite Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida enters the stage with an update on Sony's studio titles. Yoshida introduces a trailer for Bloodborne's expansion which is called 'The Old Hunters' and a lot of content is going into this expansion; so Bloodborne veterans you are going back into the world of Bloodborne on November 24th for $19.99. The new expansion will also be bundled into a physical copy of Bloodborne on December 3rd called Bloodborne: The Old Hunters Edition. A new entry in the Hots Shots Golf series was also announced for PS4, a trailer is revealed showing off the gameplay of the newest entry; the game is coming out some time in 2016. Uncharted 4 is coming to Japan on March 18th, 2016. There has been rumors going on with Gravity Rush for a while, one of PSVIta's favourite games in the community is being ported to PS4. The game is coming in December 10th, 2015 in Japan, while it's coming to North America on February 9th, 2016 and to Europe the next day on February 10th, 2016.

If that isn't enough Gravity Rush 2 is coming to PS4 sometime in 2016, the sequel is developed exclusively for PS4 meaning it's expands the world of Gravity Rush to a whole other level; meaning they aren't limited by the power of the PSVita. Gameplay is showed off for Gravity Rush 2 and it looks beautiful; it looks like there are some co-op elements in the sequel this time around. I wasn't much of a fan of Gravity Rush's gameplay with it's limited buttons and motion controls to fight but Gravity Rush 2's gameplay look way better just looking better; Japan Studio took there time and the wait was worth it. I'm very excited to play the game. A collector's edition for the Gravity Rush PS4 port was revealed, it includes the game and also a figurine of the main character in the game called Kat.

Ubisoft is up next and they show off a world premiere trailer of Ubisoft Montreal's newest game called For Honor; gameplay is showed off of Japanese samurai for TGS 2015. Many titles were showed off that can be played at TGS;including Final Fantasy XIV Online. Also PS4 has gotten a price drop in Japan starting October 1st,2015. The price was originally ¥39,980 and is now ¥34,980, that is a 12.5% decrease in price without taxes

And with that the conference is over, a lot of cool things were announced from my perspective. I look forward to getting some of these games in my hands.
